Banana Cream Pie (Mom's Recipe)

2 Cups milk
5 Tabs. flour
2Tabs. cornstarch
1/4 Tsp. salt
1/2 Cup sugar
3 eggs (separated-beat yolks-hold whites aside for meringue )
1 Tsp. vanilla
1 prepared pie crust (already baked and cooled)

·         Mix together flour, cornstarch, salt and sugar
·         Steam milk
·         Add flour mixture to steamed milk
·         Continue to cook on medium heat until thick, stirring constantly
·         Add 1 tsp. vanilla
·         Allow pudding to cool (cover with plastic wrap)
Meringue Topping
3 egg whites
6 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
·         Beat egg whites until frothy.
·         Add sugar gradually and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
·         Add vanilla.
·         Pile on pie and bake at 325° for 15 to 20 minutes.
